eStream
'Increasing the use of Streaming technology in school education in Europe'

• Funding programme and duration
  The eStream project was supported by the European Commissions’ Minerva Programme and ran from 2003 to 2006. The project however is still ongoing.
  
  
• Objectives
  
  • To promote the exchange of experiences and to share good practice on the use of Streaming media for school education / in classroom practise in Europe, taking into account pedagogical, organisational, economical and technical aspects.
  • To raise the awareness and to promote a better understanding for the educational potential of Streaming media by disseminating good practise into the school education systems in Europe at various levels
  • To address educational/didactical aspects of the use of streaming media by actively involving the end users
    
    
• Target Groups
  Direct target group:
  All stakeholders in education that are using or considering to use or produce Streaming media and similar applications for learning and teaching, including teachers in primary and secondary schools, teacher trainers, educational streaming media producers and pedagogical experts in this area.
  Indirect target group:
  Students in primary and secondary schools (they will indirectly profit from the work of the primary target group).

  • The collection of projects and initiatives in the same thematic area as eStream.
  • Testing and evaluation of the didactical use of Streaming media in classroom
  • The development of a virtual demonstrator of a multilingual video on demand and streaming service
  • The development of strategies on the large scale deployment of streaming media in school education
  • The organisation of a transnational workshop
  • The set-up of an online utilizing service
  • The organisation of a  European conference
  • A final concluding report on the educational use of streaming media
